Exports are and will remain the growth motor for the German furniture industry. And even the disappointing results from 2009, caused by the international financial and economic crisis, haven’t changed that.

The complete new export guide in print and online

After foreign business had declined by 15% in 2009, the revenues from foreign trade rose again from January to June 2010 by 8.4% to 3.9 billion euros. It is especially encouraging that export markets that are very important for the German furniture industry, such as France or Switzerland, showed significant increases of 16.3% and 9.1% respectively. But positive impulses can be found in other parts of the world, too, such as Asia. Even if the recovery has not definitely reached every market, the conditions are certainly auspicious for the German furniture industry to capture market shares, according to the Verband der Deutschen Möbelindustrie (VDM – German Furniture Industry Association).

For years now, MÖBELMARKT has been supporting German furniture producers and also other companies from the sectors of specialized assortments and home textiles in their efforts in foreign markets with the brochure “German Furniture Exporters”, providing buyers all over the world with valuable information about the German furniture industry. In 2011 MÖBELMARKT will also continue to present German companies to an international audience - but in a completely new form. Starting immediately, MÖBELMARKT will provide international buyers with a new medium with the title “Interior Design – Made in Germany”, which contains lots of information worth knowing about design and quality made in Germany – in print as well as in a continuously updated online version ( Plunge into the world of the German furniture industry.
