Technomebel and World of Furniture - Bulgaria

From April 1st until 5th Inter Expo Centre-Sofia hosted the 13th edition of the specialised exhibition Technomebel, and the tenth edition of World of Furniture for the third successive year. The event was organised by Bulgarreklama Agency and The Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry. The exhibitions were opened by the Deputy Prime Minister of Economic Development Ms Daniela Bobeva and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy Ms Ana Yaneva. Mr Evgeniy Ivanov, the executive director of the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Mr Stoyan Stoyanov, the chairman of the MB of the Branch Cnamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry, Mr Ivaylo Ivanov, Manager of Bulgarreklama Agency and Ms Elitsa Nencheva, executive director of BBCWFI attended the opening.156 exhibitors, including companies from Italy, China, Malaysia, Poland, Serbia and Turkey, showed their new products and services on the total floor coverage of 12 000 sq.m. There were more than 9 600 visitors. For the first time this year the Hosted Buyers programme was organised with more than 30 foreign participating companies from Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Iraq, Macedonia, Morocco, Moldova and France. The exhibitions were also part of the official visit of 20 companies from the furniture industry of the Republic of Serbia.41 Bulgarian furniture manufacturers received public funding to participate in Technomebel and World of Furniture for the first time this year. The money was provided by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. Thanks to the initiative a lot of new Bulgarian companies found in the specialised exhibitions a platform to demonstrate their new products and services.The “Bulgarian Furniture of the Year” competition, organised by the Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry (BBCWFI) jointly with Bulgarreklama Agency and “MD furniture design and interior” magazine, was held for the fourth year in a row. Bulgarian furniture manufacturers from all categories participated. The requirement was for the products to have been on the market or to have had market positioning prior to the start of the competition, and to have been in production for at least 2 years. Innovation, comfort, ergonomics, aesthetic appearance and functionality were the criteria of the jury, whose members were: prof. Asya Marinova PhD – Chair of “Interior and Furniture Design” Department at the University of Forestry, Mariana Kitanova – art director of Nash Dom magazine and Gencho Goev – a designer. The awarded furniture was presented in a specially designed zone. The combined Z hook hanger designed by Yordanka Jilova from “Kontura Designed” became the 2014 Bulgarian furniture winner. The runner-up was the Torro chair by “G S Malmgren” with designer Velichko Velichkov, and the third place was awarded to the musical living room corner “Galiardo” by “Mebel Stil” company. Each visitor was given the chance to cast their vote and the opportunity to win one of the five vouchers worth BGN 500 to buy products by the exhibiting companies. The visitors to the exhibition voted for “Tediva” double bed.
