In slightly less than a month, doors will open to the International Furniture Fair Singapore 2012/29th ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS 2012) and co-locating shows, Deco Asia 2012 and The Hospitality Show 2012. Eager to impress, exhibitors are all busy gearing up for the design-led event, ensuring that their displays will be nothing short of perfect when visitors come by to their booths.

IFFS 2012 Looks Poised for Success

With nearly 4,800 visitors pre-registered, organisers of the show are expecting a healthy attendance in this edition, as it has been with past years. In fact, this is a 10% increase compared to last year, indicating a growing interest in IFFS/AFS. The steady growth is attributed to a good mix of geographical regions, with 65% of them coming from other shores.

Come 9th March 2012, IFFS/AFS will welcome buying delegations that hail from 29 different countries. A strong international presence will be felt as exhibitors look forward to introducing their latest designs and innovations to renowned buyers such as Harvey Norman (Australia), Commercial Eccsa S.A. (Chile), Steinhoff International Sourcing (China), Indoor Group Ltd/Asko (Finland), BUT International (France), Atlas – Teamconsult (Germany), GARANT-MOEBEL-Group (Germany), Eijerkamp Retail Group (The Netherlands), Interstil AS (Norway), Martinsen AS (Norway), AGATA Meble (Poland), El Corte Ingles, S.A. (Spain), Shop Direct Group (United Kingdom), and American Signature (United States).

Besides buying delegations, organisers believe that newly-introduced segments of the show have also played a part in attracting more visitors. Premiering at IFFS/AFS 2012, the Hospitality.Design. Furniture CONVERGE Asia Conference serves as a knowledge-based platform at the annual exhibition. The introduction of the conference segment offers tremendous synergies, providing international delegates with a conducive platform to network and exchange ideas. “We’ve invited high-flyers of the architecture, design and hospitality industries to share their success stories, rich experience and views,” said Mr. Clement Ng, Business Development Director of IFFS Pte Ltd. “The congregation of minds and networking opportunities provided, together with the trade show trio, completes the loop. The conference complements the exhibition perfectly.”

This will also be the first time the fringe event, SingaPlural — Singapore Furniture Design Week, runs alongside the trade show. With multiple segments under its wing, SingaPlural will feature local and international design talents across various design disciplines, including furniture, architecture, interior, graphic and fashion design.

One of the segments, D’Space, will be located within Singapore Expo. The exclusive design enclave at the IFFS/AFS, D’Space, will feature cutting-edge pieces from selected designers and companies. Grupo Resol, a Spanish furniture manufacturer, will be showing its Dd collection at IFFS/AFS for the first time. Participating under D’Space, Resol hopes to reach buyers in Southeast Asia through exhibiting at IFFS/AFS. Mr. Ignasi Moner, Export Manager for Grupo Resol shared, “Singapore is one of the main gateways to reach the region, so these events give us excellent access to visitors from surrounding countries. Our Dd collection has had incredible acceptance worldwide because it combines good design with reasonable prices. Coming into IFFS/AFS, our aim is to grow our international sales further.”

But the highlight of SingaPlural has to be the Design Trail that will bring visitors from the Singapore Expo to Singapore’s city centre. Shuttle buses will ply the routes every 30 minutes, linking the main event with all the satellite exhibitions located in the heart of town, at *SCAPE, Park Mall and Plaza Singapura.

2012 also marks the year that IFFS/AFS hosts the annual meeting for the International Alliance of Furnishing Publications (IAFP), gathering all member publications of the organization in Singapore.

The International Furniture Fair Singapore 2012/29th ASEAN Furniture Show, Deco Asia  2012 and The Hospitality Show 2012 is Asia's one-stop furniture and furnishings sourcing platform which spans 70,000 square metres of exhibition space and attracts visitors from all over the world.
