The World Furniture Confederation was founded in Shanghai in 2007, and comprised 19 founding organisations from Asia, Europe, North America and South America. This year's working meeting saw Xu Xiangnan – chairman of the Council of Asia Furniture Associations (CAFA) and president of the China National Furniture Association (CNFA) – elected to the post of WFC chairman, while Linda Tu, vice-chairman and secretary-general of CAFA, and vice-president of CNFA, was appointed its secretary-general.

At the same time, Casey Loo, CAFA adviser and the IAFP's vice-president was appointed the confederation's adviser.

Attendees came from more than 40 organisations including government institutions, industry associations and other furniture-related entities.

The meeting began with a welcome speech from Xu Xiangnan, who reinforced the WFC's aim to promote the global furniture industry for the common good. Later, 45 organisations (including the IAFP) officially joined the WFC.

The World Furniture Summit took place the next day. Speakers included the IAFP's Brazilian representative Carlos Bessa, who shared his thoughts on the South American furniture market.
